We believe everyone deserves a home that feels like home.

Welcoming Home was founded in Marin County, California by Marsha Roberts and Greg Hansen — two community members who saw families moving out of homelessness into empty apartments and asked a simple question: what if we could give them more than four walls?

What started as a small grassroots effort to collect and deliver donated furniture has grown into a coordinated community movement. On each Welcoming Day, dozens of volunteers come together to fully furnish a home in a single day — transforming an empty space into somewhere a family can truly live.

Since our founding, we've furnished hundreds of homes and diverted thousands of items from landfills — powered entirely by community donations, volunteer hours, and the belief that a dignified home is something everyone deserves.
